By Grace through Faith

It has been a super-busy-fun-packed-crazy couple weeks. Meetings almost every day. Catching up on weddings. Portraits for Missions, Baby showers, mom in town. All to say I haven’t had a chance to blog, choosing to crawl in bed instead of type at my desk. Tonight I almost did the same, but after I put on my pajamas, I just couldn’t have 5 days go by without blogging something, anything. So I thought I would share what has been on my heart the past few weeks amongst all the busyness.

Lately I have been in a mode that I am pretty familiar with: Doing mode. The days I roll out of bed, jump immediately into my schedule, and at the end of the day still feeling like I have a ton left to do. Filming Contrast Concepts behind the scenes. Organizing Portraits for Missions. Planning our wedding reception to finally celebrate with friends. Going to church, editing, organizing. Cooking, cleaning, fixing, paperwork. Serving, Bible Study, reading… after awhile things can just get so schedulized that instead of focusing on each thing in turn, it’s like I’m abstractly watching myself go, go, go.

This morning at church, we started singing “You are God Alone”, a song that I love but haven’t sang in a long time. The powerful words were such a good reminder to me that no matter what I am doing, God is who He is. He is on His throne, He is God alone. Our God is a sovereign, merciful God who will never change. That truth just hit my heart hard, and I am so thankful for the reminder. Doing things is not what this life is about. How thankful I am that there is no amount of doing that will save me, but it is by God’s grace!

For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not of yourselves, it is the gift of God. Not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.” ~Eph. 2:8-9

Great reminder, Suzy. I’m glad you typed instead of just crawling into bed. It was worth it.
